ITV bosses and Cat Deeley locked in stand-off over This Morning offer: Execs demand star gives up US-based So You Think You Can Dance – as it emerges she ‘requested to co-host with Rylan… but got Ben Shephard’
This Morning’s new regular presenter Cat Deeley is in conflict with ITV bosses over her new post and her old role on So You Think You Can Dance.
On Thursday, insiders revealed that Cat, 47, and Ben Shephard, 49, had taken over the coveted role of regular presenters in the wake of the departure of stalwart stars Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield last year.
It is now claimed that Cat wanted Rylan Clark as co-host instead of Ben and that she will receive ‘no special treatment’ to allow her Monday to Thursday role on This Morning and her £344,000 season role per season in the American dance show. .
Sources revealed: ‘Cat is not getting any special treatment… She will be given absolutely no time off to film the next series of So You Think You Can Dance. So she has to make that decision, it’s one or the other, end.’
It is said that Cat ‘really wanted the job’ but was concerned about her husband Patrick Kielty’s commitments in Ireland and how they would juggle the jobs.

Cat is not short of money as she currently earns at least £344,000 per season from So You Think You Can Dance in the States, where she is reportedly paid £43,000 per episode.

On Thursday, insiders revealed that Cat, 47, and Ben Shephard, 49, had taken over the coveted role of regular presenters in the wake of the departure of stalwart stars Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield last year (pictured on the show in September)
The insider continued, “Cat told friends she wanted the job if ‘she could make it work.’ However, she was also concerned that Patrick’s commitments in Ireland would make it very difficult for her to take the job. She really wanted to do it with Rylan too.”
When reports first emerged of Cat taking part in the show last year, it was claimed that she and Ben would receive an annual salary of £555,000.
Although hefty, the salary still paled in comparison to former presenters Holly and Phil, who were reportedly paid £700,000 a year for their roles.
However, Cat is not short of money as she currently earns at least £344,000 per season as host of So You Think You Can Dance in the States, where she is reportedly paid £43,000 per episode.
The new series will air in March and Cat will split her filming time between the US and Britain.
Therefore, it stands to reason that if Cat has changed her mind about her appearance on This Morning, her contract would either allow her to continue with her appearance in LA.
If she decides to keep both jobs, it won’t be for financial reasons, however, as brand and culture expert Nick Ede revealed she could double her This Morning salary with brand deals online.
It is claimed that Cat and Ben will receive an annual salary of £555,000, which pales in comparison to Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby, who have reportedly received £700,000.
Nick told MailOnline: ‘Cat is hot on the style front and I can see her making a lot of money working with brands like John Lewis and M&S who will be vying for her to wear their items.
‘She could make over £200,000 from fashion collaborations and she also has her own fragrance which I’m sure will fly off the shelves.
‘I can also see her potentially working with a brand like Charlotte Tilbury or L’Oréal and she could earn as much as £250,000 for that.
‘Cat is the perfect presenter for This Morning. She has a large fan base of people who grew up with her on Saturday mornings and she has always been a safe pair of hands.
‘She has a great reputation for being great fun, but she can also balance difficult talking points and so she will make a winning combination with Ben.
‘What’s also really great for a brand about Cat is that she has huge appeal in the US as the host of the hit show So You Think You Dance, so if they want to expand or create brand deals in the UK and US, she’s the perfect person to do it.’
