Latrell Mitchell goes from country living to inner city chic with a little help of his mates Andy and Deb from The Block

NRL champion Latrell Mitchell’s home has undergone a stunning transformation thanks to fan-favorite duo Andy and Deb from The Block.

Although the South Sydney Rabbitohs superstar has spent a lot of time on his Taree farm in recent years, he appears to be living in the city again after announcing his long-term partner Brielle Mercy was expecting their third child.

Andy and Deb won hearts as favorites on The Block in 2019, making an impressive $430,000 profit from the sale of their St Kilda Block home at auction on the hit reality TV show.

Since then, the dynamic duo has started a new venture with a renovation series called ‘DNA of Design’ on YouTube.

A short video on the series shows a tour of the South Sydney Rabbitohs star’s home. Andy, a cousin of Latrell’s father, has known the NRL star all his life.

“Our first celebrity client, and what a brilliant one to start with,” said Deb.

Mitchell, 26, was named 2023 NRL Man of the Year and is a two-time Premiership winner, Indigenous All Star, State of Origin and Australian representative.

‘They are more like brothers, they grew up close to each other. We all came from Taree,” Deb continued.

‘Latrell was nine or ten when Andy said, ‘This man is going to play for the country.’ There are many reasons to be proud of him.’

The collaboration between Andy and Deb and the Mitchell family provided a seamless solution to decorating the interior of Latrell and his partner Brielle’s newly renovated and painted home.

“The house was pretty finished,” Deb said.

“But they needed some furniture and they had empty walls. They wanted it modernized and lighter and brighter.

‘It was a simple job, but it still required a lot of work.

‘Latrell was so grateful and happy to work with us, he did interviews with us on camera, so much fun. He was born for television. Maybe after football.’

The end product is an elegant blend of modern chic and First Nations culture.

“There are a few pieces of art (First Nations people) in the renovated house. We worked with Urban Road and they did the art and some of the furnishings,” Deb said.

‘One of the carpets we used had indigenous (Australian) art carved into it. There’s a lot of texture. It was a warm and neutral color palette with lots of ocher and brown, mustard and pink.’

This transformation follows Mitchell’s acquisition of a near-new luxury property in Ramsgate Beach, South Sydney, in mid-2023.

Built in 2018 at a cost of more than $700,000, the modern home features five bedrooms, including a master with bespoke joinery and an ensuite.

A cinema room complements the large open-plan stone kitchen, living and dining room, while skylights add to the modern charm.

Mitchell, originally from Taree, has lived in Chifley since 2018, where he invested $1.45 million in a restored 1950s brick house.

His property portfolio expanded in 2020 with the purchase of a 222-hectare cattle farm at Caffreys Flat in Biripi country, followed by an adjacent 19-hectare parcel in 2022 for his parents.

In 2023, Mitchell put the sprawling 222-acre estate along the Nowendoc River up for sale.
