Like the worn pieces of a power armor suit, the long-awaited Fallout It looks like TV series are finally coming together. Initially teased in the summer of 2020, the live-action adaptation of the post-apocalyptic action RPG series is closer than ever and finally has a release date thanks to a teaser from Amazon Prime Video.

Details are currently scarce when it comes to what the plot of the upcoming series could be, but like the video game series, the TV series will be set in a retro-futuristic alternate future, several decades after a nuclear war between China and the US . has left most of the world an irradiated wasteland.

That said, here’s everything we currently know about the live-action Fallout television series:

The Fallout series will be released in April next year

Fallout will be released on April 12, 2024, according to Prime Video’s latest teaser. With Prime, it’s likely that episodes will be released weekly after the premiere, but Amazon has yet to confirm the exact rollout.

Westworld creator and Fallout executive producer Jonathan Nolan will direct the first three episodes

Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan, the duo behind it Westworld develop and produce the Fallout series and Nolan himself will direct the first three episodes of the series.

“Fallout is one of the best gaming series of all time,” Joy and Nolan said in a statement at the time. “Each chapter of this wildly imaginative story has taken us countless hours to spend with family and friends. While Nolan and Joy will be executive producers on the Fallout show, actual showrunner duties will fall to Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Graham Wagner. Robertson-Dworet is a screenwriter whose previous credits include co-writing the screenplay for the 2018 film. Tomb Raider with Alicia Vikander and 2019’s Captain Marvel starring Brie Larson. Wagner’s credits include several notable shows, including The office, Portlandia, And Silicon valley.

We know some of the Fallout cast and who they play

Ella Purnell (Yellow jackets, Star Trek: Child Wonder) is one of the main characters in the upcoming Fallout series, along with Walton Goggins (Justified, The righteous gems). Purnell plays Lucy, a cheerful vault dweller who ventures from her vault into the waiting wasteland. Goggins plays a bounty hunting Ghoul who is extra old thanks to radiation. According to Prime Video, he is in hiding something about his past.

Additionally, Twin PeaksKyle MacLachlan plays Overseer Hank, Lucy’s father and the overseer of Vault 33, while Aaron Moten is a young recruit to the Brotherhood of Steel, learning the ropes of the organization.

The series is set in Los Angeles and will not directly adapt the games

The series will be set in the same continuity as the games, but will not directly adapt any of their stories.

However, it is set in Los Angeles, which plays an important role in Fallout lore. Although the first two games were set in California, players did not visit LA directly. That means this is the first time we’ll get to see what the irradiated metropolis will look like, and likely the first time in the series we’ll see anyone visit Vault-Tec’s headquarters there.
