Flight attendant of 25 years reveals the WORST parts of his job – from finding used tampons and condoms on the plane to passengers DEFECATING on their seats

A flight attendant who spent a quarter of a century working in the skies has shed some light on the downsides of the job.

The frequent flyer, who only works on domestic flights, answered people’s burning questions in a Reddit post in the Ask Me Anything subreddit.

The male employee listed the travel and health care benefits, and the opportunity to experience something different every day, were some of the perks of working as a flight attendant.

The disadvantages included being away for several days in a row, not getting paid for many things you did during the day, and having to deal with mean passengers.

‘I like working with AM flights. So normally I have to be at the airport around 5:00 AM to 6:00 AM and I’m done between 2:00 PM and 3:00 PM,” explained the flight attendant, who simply said he works for a “major US airline.”

“Some days the legs are shorter and we finish at 11 a.m., other days not until 5 p.m.,” he added.

The flight attendant added why he chose to only work on domestic flights, citing time changes as the main reason.

‘It’s hard on your body. I only do the US, usually just from the Midwest to the West Coast,” he said.

The staff member also addressed salary levels, saying that while the first two years are “bad” and the salary is about $25 an hour, it does not include per diem. Some airlines pay more if flights are full or almost full and what position you are flying to.

“Top out is after 13 years and costs almost $80 per flight hour,” he said.

The honest cabin crew member shared what happened on some of the rougher rides during turbulence, and admitted there were some injuries.

“It was so bad that my head bounced off the door handle and cut my head,” he admitted.

The man even talked about some of the daring aspects of the job, in response to the question, “Have you ever done the mile high club while on the job or interacting with a pilot or passenger?” Even after the flight is over?’

‘Passenger yes. Other crew members… I’ve had offers, but no,’ he replied.

‘Colleagues making contact is not as common as claimed.

‘What does happen a lot is that heterosexual pilots make contact with homosexual male supervisors.’

According to the worldly caregiver, the worst things he has seen are “fighting, shitting or pecking on their seats.”

“But (the worst) for me are used condoms, dirty underwear (male and female), used tampons, just to name a few,” he recalled.

“(Some) people think it’s their right to get on the plane, and they don’t take what we say seriously.”

He continued to say that he has made people “become stupid, demanding and unfriendly,” adding that passengers’ attitudes were being affected by COVID.

“The whole customer mentality has changed the way this job is done,” he said.

The flight attendant urged people of all ages who want to work in the sky to do so.

“We have people in their late 50s and 60s being hired,” he said.

‘I would say: go for it. Especially look at Southwest, Delta, Alaska (and) Jet Blue.”

The flight attendant even shared his favorite flight-themed movie — and it’s not Airplane!

“No… a view from the top is… a funny movie,” he said.
