HBO has released the first trailer for their highly anticipated TV adaptation of the wildly popular video game The Last Of Us.

The video debuted on Monday – September 26 – which is known in the The Last Of Us video game world as Outbreak Day, when the cordyceps fungus first began to spread throughout the United States.

The video also offered quite a surprise to fans, revealing that Melanie Lynskey (Yellowjackets) is part of the series, with the actress herself tweeting the trailer along with “Surprise!”

In the video game, it is revealed that Ellie is immune to the disease caused by the Cordyceps virus, making her mission with Joel vital to the survival of humanity.

The trailer also offers a brief look at Lynskey’s character, revealed by TV line Kathleen, described as “the ruthless leader of a revolutionary movement in Kansas City.”
