Patrick Mahomes is only in his sixth season as a starter, but Chiefs teammate Justin Reid believes he is already the GOAT of his sport.
A two-time MVP, six-time Pro Bowler and two-time champion at just 28 years old, Mahomes will get a chance to secure his third ring next week when Kansas City faces the 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII.
However, Reid claimed he did TMZ Sports prior to the game that Mahomes is “probably the best player” in NFL history, even with his current resume.
“The guy is a Hall of Famer,” the defensive back said of Mahomes. ‘First vote. Probably the best player in NFL history. And he keeps getting better.”
Of course, Mahomes still has a way to match Tom Brady’s seven Super Bowl rings, with Joe Montana and Terry Bradshaw also winning four.

But Reid is right to have confidence in KC’s quarterback.
“You can be 24 behind it,” he continued. ‘You can be 15. Whatever it is, as long as 15 has the ball in his hands, you know you have a chance to win.”
Winning on Feb. 11 in Las Vegas will certainly be a challenge as the Chiefs face a talented 49ers team that has delivered all season.
The team went 12-5 in the regular season to secure the NFC’s No. 1 seed and a first-round bye before defeating the Packers and Lions at home to advance to the Super Bowl.
Reid will look for his second Super Bowl win after joining the team last season
“They are packed with talent,” Reid told TMZ. “This is a very well-coached team, a very talented squad. Before the season started everyone sent them to the Super Bowl and here they are. So they lived up to expectations.’
Reid is especially familiar with the talents of San Francisco running back Christian McCaffrey, as the pair played together in college at Stanford.
“I know firsthand how dynamic and how explosive this guy is, and we’re just going to have to have a good game plan to contain him as much as possible, as well as their talent at wide receiver and tight end.”
McCaffrey leads the 49ers rushing attack, while Deebo Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk and tight end George Kittle are dangerous weapons in the passing game.
The 49ers are looking for the franchise’s first Super Bowl victory since 1995.
