‘Reckless’ airline passenger slammed for bizarre mid-air behaviour: ‘What is the world coming to?’

A passenger has been criticized for a ‘bizarre’ plane act that left thousands scratching their heads – with many calling her ‘stupid’ and ‘reckless’.

A flyer recently shared a photo of a woman in a Viparita Karani or “legs up the wall” yoga pose in the air in the economy section of a plane.

The woman lay back on the aisle seat, tucked her head under the seat in front of her and stretched her legs toward the overhead storage area.

Many professionals pointed out that the act was extremely dangerous, as the aircraft could jerk or experience sustained turbulence at any time, and the precarious position was likely to lead to serious injuries.

‘Why? One bout of clear air turbulence, and that passenger will need more than yoga to fix his back!’ a cabin crew member said in a Facebook post.

Several people criticized the woman’s behavior.

“I would pray for turbulence because people should really suffer for their stupidity,” one person said.

“Way to get more leg room,” another joked.

“Why do people act so foolish and disrespectful in the limited presence of others is beyond me,” one woman wrote.

‘The person probably likes the attention. Just my honest opinion,” one man added.

But many others didn’t see the problem with her yoga session.

“I’m sorry, but I don’t understand the people saying she deserves to be hurt, or even the people saying it’s disrespectful. She doesn’t hurt anyone, she isn’t in anyone else’s personal space, she minds her own business and does what she has to do.

“Everyone always talks about ‘coping mechanisms’ and being ‘inclusive’, but when someone does something strange, you all throw fire. It makes no sense to me. “If she’s not hurting or yelling at anyone, leave her alone,” one person said.

Another added: ‘I have had a high risk of a thrombosis for some time now. I have a long flight soon. I think I’ll try this pose. Thanks for the tip.’
