Travis Kelce admits struggles with motivation this season, despite leading the Chiefs to the Super Bowl: ‘Getting excited in f***ing November when you know you’re about to f***ing wax a team… it’s hard’
Travis Kelce has admitted he struggled to stay motivated with the Kansas City Chiefs this season, following a year like no other in which his fame exploded due to his relationship with Taylor Swift.
Kelce and Swift made their relationship public in late September, when the singer saw him play for the first time at Arrowhead Stadium against the Chicago Bears.
The tight end now has a chance to cap off the campaign with what would be a nothing short of incredible ending in the Super Bowl on February 11, when the Chiefs look for glory for the second straight season against the San Francisco 49ers in Las Vegas .
And while Kelce has taken his form to a formidable level in the play-offs, he admitted to his brother Jason on this week’s episode of New Heights that he was finding it difficult to stay excited in the middle of the season.
“There’s a flip of the switch, you get a little excited in December,” the Chiefs star told his older brother.

Kelce has been in great form in recent weeks, helping the Chiefs reach the Super Bowl
But the tight end has admitted he’s finding it hard to get excited in the middle of the season
“You want to have that transition all year round, but he’s a 17-game season guy, he’s a tough guy. It is difficult.
“Especially after 11 years, getting excited for some random game in damn November and you know you’re about to join this damn team, it’s hard to get it going every week.
“And this year it was harder than ever because we didn’t win those games. We tried to find ways to win and kicked ourselves.
“And we’re finally getting going, finally playing our best ball at the right time and how can you not get excited about that? How can you not wake up every day knowing you have a chance to go get this thing? It’s the best feeling in the world.
‘There’s nothing better than Jan and Feb football and we’re right in the middle of it. I like the challenge of going into a hostile environment, having your back against the wall, winning or going home and finding a way to win with the guys.”
The Chiefs have played just three times this season, beating the Miami Dolphins in November before losing to Jason’s Philadelphia Eagles team and ending the month with a win in Las Vegas against the Raiders.
Kelce propelled the Chiefs to a three-point victory over the Bills in Buffalo with two touchdowns and led the way again on Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens, scoring an early touchdown for his team.
He also eclipsed Jerry Rice’s record of 151 postseason receptions in Baltimore.
Currently off three days after their Ravens heroics, the Chiefs return to the practice field on Friday to tighten their plans for the 49ers.
