Leonardo DiCaprio has been photographed filming his new role for director Paul Thomas Anderson, a film currently titled BC Project.

In photos obtained exclusively by DailyMail.com, DiCaprio, 49, looks unrecognizable in a disheveled costume consisting of a dirty bathrobe and jeans, along with large sunglasses and a gray beanie.

The actor – who was recently snubbed for an Oscar for Killers of the Flower Moon – was seen on set with Anderson in the Northern California city of Eureka on Tuesday.

DiCaprio’s character appears to have fallen on hard times when he makes a call from a pay phone and collapses to the ground, a defeated expression on his face.

Cameras focused on DiCaprio as he sat outside a supermarket and dramatically stretched his hand across the cement.

DiCaprio had a single black backpack slung over his shoulder. Also attached to his belongings was a pink backpack.

Behind the scenes, when the cameras weren’t rolling, DiCaprio could also be seen talking to Anderson.

Anderson appeared to have some notes for DiCaprio as the duo sat down together and looked at Anderson’s iPad.

The film’s plot is currently being kept secret, but… Deadline recently reported that the film also stars Sean Penn and Regina Hall.

The film is set in contemporary times and was written by Anderson. Anderson also produces the film along with Sara Murphy and Adam Somner.

In addition to the three leads, Deadline reported that the film will feature a large cast.

The budget for the film is reportedly close to $100 million. Variety reports.

The new film comes after Leonardo was snubbed for an Oscar for his role in Killers of the Flower Moon. The film received numerous nominations, including Best Picture, Best Director for Martin Scorsese, Best Actress for Lily Gladstone and Best Supporting Actor for Robert De Niro.

Speak with VarietyLily defended her costar to the outlet, stating that both she and her parents were outraged by the omission.

“They were angry,” she said. ‘He was the first to congratulate me, with popping confetti. I told him how angry we all were.”

The 3 1/2 hour film received a total of eight more Oscar nominations, but the Titanic star was left out in the cold.

‘My nomination is equally his. I couldn’t have done what I did without his generosity as an actor and as a person,” Lily added.

In the film, Leo plays World War I veteran Ernest Burkhart, who falls in love with an Osage woman, Lily’s Mollie Kyle.
