Aston Villa have rejected a third bid of £7.5m plus add-ons for Middlesbrough striker Morgan Rogers, who is valued at around £12m.

The 21-year-old joined Boro from Manchester City last summer and has impressed for the Championship side this season, scoring seven goals and providing nine assists in all competitions.

Should Rogers leave Teesside this month, City will receive a sell-on fee as part of the deal.

Villa boss Unai Emery said on Monday he remains hopeful of adding a number of players before the deadline.

“The club is working on a number of players who can leave and whether we can add one or two players,” he said.

Meanwhile, Emery also wants midfielder Jacob Ramsey to stay amid transfer interest from Newcastle and Bayern Munich.

Villa value Ramsey at £50m and selling the academy graduate would give them the space to meet Premier League profit and sustainability rules.

“Jacob Ramsey is a very important player,” he said.

‘He grew up here at the academy. His progression is clear and keeps getting better. I want to keep him here with us.

“Teams may be interested in the possibility of signing him because he has great potential at Aston Villa and England, 100 percent.”

The 22-year-old has made just 14 appearances for Villa this season, missing eight matches in October and November due to a foot injury.
