Made In Chelsea’s Ollie Locke reveals son Apollo, 5 months, was rushed into intensive care after he stopped breathing as he recalls the terrifying ordeal

Ollie Locke has revealed that his son Apollo was rushed to intensive care after he suddenly stopped breathing when he was just days old.

The former Made In Chelsea star, 36, and his partner Gareth, 34, welcomed son Apollo Magnus Obi and daughter Cosima Emily Bex via surrogate in August.

And recalling the terrifying ordeal, Ollie told how Apollo, who was born prematurely, was taken away by an ambulance after becoming unresponsive.

Speaking to Boots presents Taboo Talk, Ollie said: ‘We got a call at 4.30am after he was born to say he wasn’t doing too well.

‘He was taken from Durham to Sunderland on blue lights because he wasn’t breathing. It was one of those moments in life that you never want, you never want to have that phone call. That was one of the most difficult moments of my life.’

Although Ollie admitted it was one of his ‘toughest moments’, he confirmed the twins are happy and healthy since Apollo’s terrifying health scare.

He added: ‘He’s a stubborn little b*****. He’s always been like that – from day one, from that moment on – he’s always been the laziest boy in the world.”

‘So when he got to Sunderland the tube was put down his throat and into his lungs and he looked and thought, ‘No, thank you very much’.

“He ripped it out and started breathing normally. He’s a real pain in the ass. I love him, but she’s really laid back and he has to work really hard.’

Ollie recently shared adorable photos of his twins enjoying their first dip during their holiday to Barbados earlier this month.

The TV personality shared the sweet photos to X – formerly known as Twitter – and he was seen lifting his baby into the air as the family played in the pool.

He gushed, “My whole heart! Love like I’ve never felt before! The babies swim first #barbados’.

It comes after the MIC stars opened up about life with their newborn twins as they showed them off during a TV appearance.

Joining Christine Lampard on Lorraine, the pair told how despite being over the moon to finally be fathers after a three-year journey, they admitted the past few weeks had been ‘bloody tests’.

Their twins spent time in the neonatal intensive care unit after being born prematurely at just 31 weeks.

Ollie and Gareth added that things haven’t been helped by the fact that their baby bubble was interrupted by cameras while the couple filmed their YouTube series Daddy Diaries.

After Gareth commented that the babies were ‘night owls’, Ollie explained how they have juggled fatherhood with filming their show, commenting: ‘Luckily we are twins with two.

‘What makes it difficult is that we are filming all this for our YouTube series. There were cameras in our faces and a set position.”

To which Gareth confirmed: ‘The last few weeks have been bloody tests.’

The couple went on to talk about the twins’ speedy arrival after surrogate mother Bex went into premature labor, adding that the toddlers needed extra “help” when they were born.

Ollie said: ‘We were on our way and got this phone call. Half an hour later she was 5 cm dilated. Later she was 10 cm dilated. She had a caesarean section quite quickly.

‘They were perfect. They were 31 weeks, so they were early and just needed some help. We were with them every day.”

According to the NHS, twins usually arrive around 37 weeks, with doctors and midwives typically recommending a planned birth from 36 weeks.

The children’s arrival was all the more special for the couple, as they suffered three heartbreaking miscarriages during a three-year journey to becoming parents.

Gareth explained: ‘It’s been over three years and the last time we had a miscarriage I thought it might not happen again. Nothing makes you more determined to want something.”
