Gwen Stefani has some explaining to do.

When announcing that her old band Doubtless reunites to play the annual Coachella Valley Music And Arts Festival in April, the band’s frontwoman is told to revisit her past and explain that she was once in a band with three men to her youngest son, Apollo, nine .

“I literally had to be in bed with Apollo and he said, ‘But mom, what is Coachella? Everyone’s saying it. What is this? I literally had to tell him every band member,” Stefani explained.

“So long has passed, because he’s turning ten! It’s just another miracle and blessing. And for me it was surreal. I feel like we’re in the future and lightning just struck and says (without a doubt) “Here we are!”

The Coachella reunion will be the first time No Doubt has played together since 2015, which was called a reunion at the time.

After releasing two more albums, Return To Saturn (2000) and Rock Steady (2001), another huge success thanks in part to hits like Hey Baby, Hella Good and Underneath It All, they entered a hiatus that would open the doors . for a solo album by Stefani.

Love. Angel. Music. Baby (2004) would establish Stefani as a female solo artist to be reckoned with, and would lead to three more releases, the last of which was a Christmas-themed record, You Make It Feel Like Christmas (2017).

Some of her solo hit songs include Hollaback Girl, Cool, Rich Girl, The Sweet Escape, Wind It Up and 4 In The Morning.

Those are the songs that many of her younger fans, like her son Apollo, would know, along with her stint on The Voice that started in 2014.

After the success of her second solo album The Sweet Escape (2006), it would be another six years before No Doubt reunited and released their final album as a band, Push And Shove (2012).

The band played periodic shows over the next few years until 2015.

But now, almost a decade since they shared the stage together, Gwen Stefani says she’s “completely overwhelmed” by the warm reception the band has received since the reunion went public.

“It just happened so quickly, and that’s my favorite kind of event. “We haven’t really figured out the next steps of how we’re going to do this yet, but we’re all so excited,” Stefani, 54, said. “And I think watching the internet blow up (with) how excited the fans are? It inspires us.’

While Stefani has been in a romance with Blake Shelton since 2015, which led to their wedding in July 2020, she is co-parent to Apollo and his brothers Kingston, 17, and Zuma, 15, with ex-husband and Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale.
