Leeds striker Jaidon Anthony paid tribute to his late mother Donna by unveiling a special message on his shirt after scoring in Saturday’s 1-1 FA Cup draw against Plymouth, but was shown a yellow card for his celebration.
The 24-year-old gave the hosts the lead at Elland Road with a 31st-minute goal and took off his shirt to pay tribute to his mother after her death.
Anthony was back in the starting line-up for the first time since the death of his mother last week, when the two teams played out a draw, meaning they will meet in a fourth round replay.
A message on his undershirt read ‘rest in perfect peace mum’, while Anthony was joined by his Leeds team-mates pulling on the t-shirt as they supported their colleague.
Supporters at Elland Road stood to pay their respects as Anthony celebrated emotionally in a moving moment during the FA Cup match.

However, following regulations regarding players taking off their shirts, match referee Lewis Smith waved a yellow card when Anthony had stopped celebrating.
The booking comes just days after Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke was also booked for displaying a similar shirt in honor of the death of Anthony’s mother.
Solanke scored for the Cherries in their FA Cup win over Swansea, unveiling a top reading: ‘RIP Donna’.
Anthony is currently on loan at Leeds from Bournemouth and has scored two goals in all competitions this season.

Leeds manager Daniel Farke praised Anthony’s performance against Plymouth, explaining that the goal meant so much to the young striker.
‘Big moment for him. Goal full of quality. He has shown what he stands for,” Farke said at his post-match press conference.
‘Great technique, great player. Dangerous if he cuts in from the left flank. Purpose of the class. Happy for him.
‘It meant so much to him. These are not the easiest days for him. It would have been better if it had been the decisive goal with a bigger spotlight,” he added.
