Lorraine Kelly reveals her husband of 32 years Steve Smith regularly checks her breasts for lumps: ‘He’s selfless’

Lorraine Kelly has told how her husband, 32-year-old Steve Smith, regularly checks her breasts for lumps.

The 64-year-old TV presenter, who married cameraman Steve in 1992, joked that the act makes him a “selfless” man.

Lorraine admitted that she is ‘fussy about mammograms’ and admitted that she knows all ‘breasts are different’, but when it comes to a thorough check-up, she enlists her husband’s help.

The Scottish star, who fronts the ‘Change and Check’ campaign, which has helped women get an early diagnosis of breast cancer – which could potentially save their lives, said: ‘Steve checks mine regularly… selfless, that’s what he is. Selfless!’

She added, “But that’s great. He probably knows them better than I do. The same goes for women and men checking for testicular cancer.”

The Change and Check campaign, which was launched in 2019 to show women how to check themselves for signs of breast cancer, was championed by Lorraine’s friend and producer Helen Addis, who was diagnosed at the age of 39.

Posters and stickers are hung in hundreds of changing rooms throughout the country showing what to look out for.

Lorraine wrote for MailOnline at the time of the launch: ‘The stickers show a series of images highlighting the red flags for breast cancer.

‘They could be lumps in the breast or under the armpit, or other signs such as discharge or bleeding from the nipple, swelling or a change in the shape of the breast or nipple, wrinkling or dimpling in the skin, unusual pain or rash on the skin. the chest.’

She added: ‘Of course our breasts are all different. What is normal for you may not be normal for me.”

Having previously said their sex life is ‘going well’, and with Valentine’s Day approaching, Lorraine revealed what a good evening would be.

She told Weight Watchers: ‘There’s nothing like a relaxing evening with the one you love.’

She continued, “Valentine’s Day dinner is special and a little more indulgent. Something classic, like a steak with red wine, is delicious to eat on Valentine’s Day and Steve is clearly happy with such a choice!

Lorraine added that “remembering things the other person likes” is always a nice gesture to show how much you care.

She also admitted that she will enjoy an early, relaxing night with Steve because she “likes to go to bed and have eight hours of sleep.”

The daytime TV star added: “The little things count – be thoughtful. Remembering things that the other person likes.

‘Writing little notes about birthdays and Valentine’s Day is a small way to remind them that you love them.

‘I don’t like big gestures, but I do like it when Steve cooks for me and we can have a quiet evening together.

‘Enjoy small treats together. With my job, sleeping is one of the most indulgent things for me.

‘It’s a real treat to end my relaxing evening with Steve by going to bed early. Sleep is super important to me, it’s so essential for overall good health.

‘I love going to bed with clean sheets and being able to sleep for 8 hours, what a luxury!’
