Liverpool are currently top of the Premier League and supporters want to see their legendary manager leave with a second English top-flight trophy to his name.

However, for one fan the news proved too much to handle as the Liverpool supporter broke down in tears live talkSPORT while speaking to Simon Jordan and Jim White.

Paul, 56, emotionally explained: ‘I’m absolutely devastated. It flashed on my phone and I thought someone was joking.

‘Then I realized it was official from the club. This is so important news.

‘I was a kid when Bill Shankly was our manager. Klopp became Bill No. 2. There will be a statue.

‘He is everything Liverpool football club stands for. He is emotional. It’s just absolutely terrible news.

‘I just hope he’s not sick. We have noticed that he has lost some weight recently, he is a little thinner in his face.’

Klopp assured Liverpool supporters that he would not be leaving due to his health and instead explained that his decision to leave the English giants was due to him ‘running out of energy’.

When Klopp replaced Brendan Rodgers in 2015, there were questions about how the German would adapt to life at one of the world’s biggest clubs.

The 56-year-old answered those questions by winning the Champions League before ending Liverpool’s 30-year wait for a first Premier League crown.

The search for a replacement for the German has now begun, with former Reds midfielder and current Bayer Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso among the favorites to take over.

Explaining his decision to leave Anfield, Klopp said: “I can understand that at the moment it is a shock for a lot of people when you hear it for the first time, but obviously I can explain – or at least try to lay. .

‘I love absolutely everything about this club, I love everything about the city, I love everything about our supporters, I love the team, I love the staff. I love everything.

“But (the fact that) I’m still making this decision shows that I’m convinced this is the decision I have to make.”
