Fans got a glimpse of Conor McGregor’s big screen acting debut when the trailer for ‘Road House’ starring Jake Gyllenhaal was released on Thursday – which saw the UFC fighter headbutt his Hollywood co-star in a dramatic scene .

In the remake of the 1989 classic starring Patrick Swayze, The Notorious was cast to oppose Gyllenhaal’s character, Elwood Dalton.

McGregor makes a strong impression in his role as Dalton’s nemesis, squaring off against him and delivering a brutal headbutt to open their first fight scene.

“I have a tip for you: don’t let anyone get that close,” McGregor says before shoving his head into Gyllenhaal’s face as the trailer cuts into a fight montage.

The fight is foreshadowed by McGregor walking to the Roadhouse in the Florida Keys while holding a hammer. The sequence cuts to a close-up of McGregor’s evil smile as he walks into the establishment with malicious intent.

“I have a tip for you: don’t let anyone get that close,” McGregor says before headbutting as the trailer cuts to a fight montage. “Hey guys, looks like you’re having a great night,” he says as he goes on a rampage and smashes tables to get the main character’s attention.

Details about McGregor’s character have not been fully revealed. However, the script indicates that the villain’s name is “Knox.”

“Once Knox gets to work, it’s over, honey,” he says in one scene.

The UFC was also involved in the film’s production, as Gyllenhaal’s character appears to be an ex-UFC fighter. The film shot fight and weigh-in scenes through UFC 285 in March, with McGregor heavily involved in the marketing efforts.

The film was shot in the middle of McGregor’s hiatus after he broke his leg against Dustin Poirier in July 2021. The former two-division champion hasn’t seen the Octagon since.

However, McGregor recently teased his return bout for International Fight Week on June 29.

In a video posted on New Year’s Eve, McGregor announced he will fight 185-pound Michael Chandler in Las Vegas.

UFC chief Dana White has since denied McGregor’s claims. However, the UFC has made promising efforts to promote the fight despite seemingly struggling to strike a deal.

McGregor and Chandler faced off as coaches in the final season of the reality show The Ultimate Fighter. The series has long been used to promote fights by pitting fighters against each other as coaches before facing each other in the cage.

While uncertainty remains surrounding his return to the UFC, McGregor’s acting debut will premiere on Amazon Prime on March 21.
