  • Several frustrated users have taken to X (formerly Twitter) to discuss the outage

It rose to fame in 2021 and has since become one of the most popular games in the world.

But it looks like Wordle crashed this morning.

Several frustrated users have taken to X (formerly Twitter) to discuss the outage, with one claiming it has ‘ruined their morning’.

‘Wordel is out. My 12:00 ritual is in tatters,” one user wrote, indicating that the game has been unavailable for hours.

MailOnline attempted to access the New York Times game and discovered that the page would not load.

WHAT IS WORDEL?

Wordle is deceptively simple; you have six chances to guess a five-letter word.

After each guess, each letter turns green, yellow or gray, which means:

Vegetable: right letter, right place

Yellow: right letter, wrong place

Gray: wrong letter

You can then use these clues for your next guess.

Since its launch in October 2021, Wordle has quickly become the go-to game for hundreds of thousands of avid players around the world.

The daily word game gives players six attempts to guess a five-letter word.

After each guess, feedback is given in the form of colored tiles.

Green indicates that a letter is correct and in the correct position, while yellow indicates that a letter is correct but in the wrong position.

It proved so popular that the New York Times announced it had purchased Wordle in 2022 for an undisclosed seven-figure sum.

Although many loyal players still play Wordle every day, the game suffered a glitch this morning, with the first reports coming in shortly after 00:00 GMT.

MailOnline tried to access the game on both desktop and mobile but was unable to load the page.

An error message simply reads: “A timeout occurred while waiting for the cache.”

However, other New York Times games do not appear to be affected by the glitch.

MailOnline had no problem accessing both the Mini Crossword and the Spelling Bee.
