Naomi Watts reveals why she rushed down the aisle with Billy Crudup at surprise courthouse wedding: ‘We were very keen’
Naomi Watts has revealed she rushed down the aisle with her husband Billy Crudup last year because the pair were ‘excited’.
The actors opted for a courthouse wedding in New York last June, and the 55-year-old and her partner, also 55, just couldn’t wait.
“It just kind of happened,” she said on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon during the no-nonsense ceremony.
“We knew we wanted to do it, it was something we really wanted to do quickly. It’s an efficient way to do it.’
She added: ‘It was really lovely. It was a classic New York day. You met all kinds of people, some dressed to the nines, some walking in and out quickly.

The British-Australian actress married the American The Morning Show star in June last year.
Shortly after tying the knot, Naomi posted a photo of herself and her new husband posing on the steps of a Manhattan courthouse with the caption: “Hitched.”
Naomi looked stunning in a $7,400 white Oscar de la Renta Sweetheart Water Lilly Guipure dress alongside her actor husband, who currently stars on The Morning Show.
The Mulholland Drive star wore her cropped blonde hair curled and parted to the side, and completed her look with open-toed pumps, a diamond necklace and a gold wedding ring.

New York-born Billy, meanwhile, wore a navy blue suit and looked dashing with his clean-shaven face and shaggy salt-and-pepper hair combed back dramatically.
After the ceremony, Naomi shared a photo of the newlyweds celebrating with actor Mark Ruffalo and his wife Sunrise Coigney.
The famously secretive couple previously sparked wedding rumors after they were spotted in wedding attire in photos obtained by Page six.
Naomi first sparked rumors that she and Billy were engaged earlier that year, when she debuted a huge diamond with a tasteful marquise cut, along with a diamond-encrusted band.
She added: ‘It was really lovely. It was a classic New York day. You met all kinds of people, some were dressed to the nines, some walked in and out quickly.”

However, the star declined to confirm the engagement talk, even after American Today host Hoda Kotb directly referenced it during a late April appearance on the morning talk show.
The King Kong star appeared to have worn the ring back in March and she was spotted wearing the sparkler on the red carpet at the 2023 Vanity Fair Oscar Party in Beverly Hills.
Naomi and Billy met on the set of her 2017 Netflix series Gypsy, in which she starred as a therapist who uses an alias to develop close (and unethical) relationships with people closely associated with her patients, while Crudup her husband played.
The costars started dating later in 2017, a year after Naomi split from her partner of 11 years, actor Liev Schreiber.
The friendly exes share two children: Kai, 15, and Sasha, 16.
