Controversial Married At First Sight groom sparks outage as he takes a brutal swipe at Woolworths for not selling Australia Day merchandise
Dean Wells has taken out supermarket giant Woolworths over their decision not to sell Australia Day merchandise.
The former MAFS groom, 45, posted a series of Instagram stories questioning why the retailer didn’t stock Australian flags or Australia Day themed items.
Wells then filmed himself hunting to see how easy it was to find a flag due to its perceived ‘taboo’ status.
He presented screenshots of the Woolworths website showing a dog pool decorated with a pride flag, This suggests that while the chain can show support for the LGBTQ+ community, purchasing an Australian flag seems like a challenge.
“I’ve never felt obliged to wear the Australian flag or Australia Day stuff, but now that it’s so taboo I kind of want to wear one,” he said.

He then announced his intention to visit a discount store in search of the items.
There he found a collection of flags and mixed merchandise.
It comes as fellow MAFS bride Hayley Vernon took to Instagram to celebrate Australia Day a challenging post.
Wells showed screenshots of the Woolworths website showing a dog pool decorated with a pride flag, suggesting that while the chain can show support for the LGBTQ+ community, buying an Australian flag seems like a challenge.

‘Happy Australia Day. For me, being Australian is one of the greatest gifts God can give us,” she began.
‘We live in by far one of the most beautiful places on earth. It wasn’t until I traveled through Europe and abroad that I realized this.’
“For me, being Australian means we help our friends, even if we don’t know them. We stand up for what is right. Australians make a joke of it.’
She continued, “Being human is the greatest gift of all. Be kind in person and with your gestures, no matter how big or small, and take care of your friends.”
