- CHRIS SUTTON: Why don’t clubs sign players? This transfer window must be revived! It all starts
Aston Villa have been keeping an eye on the progress of Norwich City winger Jonathan Rowe as they keep an eye on late moves.
It comes as Unai Emery’s side continue to discuss a move for Middlesbrough’s Morgan Rogers.
Their efforts to sign the promising 21-year-old suffered a blow earlier this week after Middlesbrough rejected a second bid for the forward.
Despite this, Villa then made a third bid for Rogers, who came off the bench to score in his side’s 6-1 defeat to Chelsea on Tuesday evening.
Rogers joined Boro in a transfer from Manchester City for £1million last summer, and should Villa be successful in their attempts to sign him, Pep Guardiola’s side will receive a sell-on fee as part of the deal.

Since then, Rogers has impressed for Michael Carrick’s side with seven goals and nine assists in 33 appearances in all competitions.
Mail Sport understands that Rogers, who is valued by Boro at around £10million, is keen to join the Midlands club.
Rowe, meanwhile, has emerged as another potential suitor for Villa, with a contract that expires in 2025.
After rising through Norwich’s academy, the 20-year-old made his debut for the Canaries in 2021 and his performances have seen him catch the eye of both Villa and Crystal Palace.

Aston Villa could be open to letting Jhon Duran leave if they find a suitable replacement
He has had an excellent season in the Championship with David Wagner, scoring twelve goals in 27 games.
Rowe also enjoyed a dream debut for England Under-21s, scoring in their 9-1 win against Serbia in October.
It comes as Villa could be forced to enter the market if they sell striker John Duran, with several clubs including Chelsea having shown interest in signing the Colombian.
Villa have already rejected an inquiry from West Ham for the striker, with Emery’s side wanting to keep him to ensure they have enough attacking options up front. But the Midlands club could let him leave if they find suitable cover.
