Donna died last week and Bournemouth wore black armbands out of respect against Liverpool on Sunday.

A statement from Bournemouth last week said: ‘We were devastated to hear of the untimely death of Jaidon Anthony’s mother earlier this week. Donna was known and loved by many of the staff and players at AFC Bournemouth.”

He re-shared a photo of Solanke’s tribute on Instagram, captioning it: ‘love you brother’.

Askgodders, the sports management agency responsible for Anthony’s career, wrote of Donna: ‘What a journey it has been to know you. You are a beautiful, bright soul with whom I have shared moments of celebration, laughter, tears and also difficulties. We have prayed through these difficult times and seen the joy come through on the other side.

‘I’m so happy that you saw Jaidon realize his dream of becoming a professional footballer and winning promotion, where we all experienced an evening we will never forget, what a party!’

Anthony, 24, spent ten years in Arsenal’s academy before joining Bournemouth in 2016.

He was a key part of the side that won promotion from the Championship in 2021/22 and was a regular as they secured Premier League survival under Gary O’Neil last season.

He has made 21 appearances so far this season in the pursuit of promotion at Leeds United.

Daniel Farke’s side are fourth in the championship and just two points behind second-placed Ipswich, who guard the automatic promotion places.
