Joey King and Logan Lerman were seen in several first images from the upcoming historical drama series We Were The Lucky Ones, which was released on Monday.

The 24-year-old actress and her 32-year-old castmate were seen in character in the new series of snaps, in which they were joined by several of their costars.

The performer, who recently clapped back at her ex-boyfriend Jacob Elordi, will play a character named Halina in the upcoming show, which is based on Georgia Hunter’s novel of the same name.

The author, who had her book published in 2017, was inspired for her novel by a family reunion that took place in 2000, where she heard stories about the older members of her family.

We Were The Lucky Ones is about a Jewish family trying to reunite after being separated at the start of World War II.

Deadline initially revealed that development of the project was underway in September 2022.

At the time, it was announced that both Lerman and King had signed on to appear in the project.

Other cast members include Hadas Yaron, Henry-Lloyd Hughes and Amit Rahav.

The show is written by Erica Lipez, who serves as showrunner and as one of the executive producers.

This entertainment industry figure recently spoke Elle and opened up about the broad scope of the upcoming show.

“It’s this incredible survival story that spans nine years, four continents and takes us from Poland to Siberia, to France, to West Africa, to Brazil,” she said.

Lipez went on to talk about why the show’s producers chose King to be the show’s lead.

“There’s just this strength, intelligence, humor and ambition in Halina that we felt like we knew Joey would capture,” she said.

The producer also spoke about the similarities Lerman shared in acting range with the star of the Kissing Booth franchise.

“He’s a lot like Joey in a lot of ways. There’s just an openness to him. It’s really interesting,” she said.
