Patrick Mahomes was pelted with snowballs by angry Bills fans after inspiring the Kansas City Chiefs to another playoff victory over Buffalo on Sunday night.

In another classic matchup between the two quarterbacks, Mahomes defeated great rival Josh Allen for the third straight postseason as the Chiefs held on for a 27-24 victory over the Bills.

Tyler Bass’ late field goal miss to tie the game with less than two minutes to play – reminiscent of Scott Norwood’s infamous wide right miss in Super Bowl XXV – cost Buffalo dearly as they were out of the play- offs from the Divisional Round crashed.

It was a heartbreaking defeat for the hosts at Highmark, where freezing temperatures left the stadium covered in snow before fans cleared it before the game for wages of $20 an hour.

And after their final postseason loss to Kansas City, Buffalo fans let their frustrations boil over when Mahomes ran toward the crowd after the game.

One clip on social media shows Mahomes hitting a snowball straight to the head after the win

As he appeared to head to the crowd to sign some autographs for Chiefs fans, footage circulating on social media shows the quarterback being pelted with snowballs from above by home fans before running for cover.

Mahomes wasn’t the only away player to be targeted by snowballs, but a Bills fan appeared to throw one to wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling as he tried to catch a touchdown pass.

The strange sequence occurred in the second quarter on a crucial third down, with Valdes-Scantling trying to haul in a pass from Mahomes.

The pass feels incomplete, with the snowball instead making contact with Cam Lewis, who was guarding Valdes-Scantling on the play.

Linebacker Drue Tranquill wrote on X after Sunday’s game that he almost threw a snowball himself at a fan who threw one in his direction, but it broke in his hand before he could do so.

“I caught the snowball,” Tranquill said. “If it didn’t break in my hand, it was fired straight at him.

‘We’d also beat them in a snowball fight. The truth is, my four-year-old throws a meaner snowball than #BillsMafia.”

The Chiefs are now set to face the Baltimore Ravens in this weekend’s Conference Championships, where they will compete for a second straight Super Bowl appearance.

After narrowly escaping the Bills, Mahomes admitted the Ravens have “no weakness” and will give it their best shot.

“We know we face a big challenge next week,” he said. “But our guys are going to get ready to go out there and show what we can do.

‘There is no weakness, it will take our utmost effort. Defense, offense, special teams, they do it all. It’s always a great challenge and the stadium will be rocking, so we’re excited about the challenge.”
