Bayern Munich are expected make another offer for Newcastle United defender Kieran Trippier… after Magpies rejected loan and transfer approaches for England full-back

  • Newcastle have already rejected an initial approach from the Bavarian giants
  • It is expected that the Bundesliga champions will make another bid for the full-back
  • Ivan Toney is ambitious and wants to win titles… you can’t begrudge him that! It all starts

Bayern Munich are expected to make another attempt to tempt Newcastle United to sell Kieran Trippier before the week is out.

Newcastle have rejected a loan and lowball offer from Bayern, who are juggling goals for the right-back with Paris St. Germain’s Nordi Mukiele.

Mail Sport understands Trippier is open to working with former Tottenham teammates Eric Dier and Harry Kane, but the price should be right.

Sources say Trippier is not trying to ‘force’ a departure and is very happy to be playing under Eddie Howe and has enjoyed his time at the club.

However, it was announced on Saturday that Trippier returned from a break in New York and hopes to seal his move to Bayern Munich.

The German club is aware that Newcastle has reached the financial fair play limit and is trying to take advantage of this.

Earlier this month, Tuchel – who wanted to sign Kyle Walker from Man City this summer – confirmed that his team hopes to strengthen Trippier’s position.

“We are looking for a right back who is strong in duels,” he said. ‘We’re going to see if something is possible.

‘Nous Mazraoui is on the African Cup, but we have also become used to Konrad Laimer as right back, even though that is not his best position.

‘If there is an opportunity in the market, we seize it. Otherwise it will stay that way.’

Meanwhile, Newcastle have been eyeing Borussia Mönchengladbach’s Joe Scally, the 21-year-old American right-back, but their priority is to strengthen the midfield if the money comes in.

Bournemouth’s Philip Billing remains an interesting player for Eddie Howe as he has the physical attributes to replace Joelinton, who undergoes groin surgery in Barcelona tomorrow.

Everton’s Amadou Onana is also on the list, but would be considerably more expensive.

A side note for players currently heading to Germany is that, although basic salaries are not always as rich as those of Premier League teams, many Bundesliga clubs pay a bonus of £6,000 to even £18,000 per point – so it pays to playing for a successful side.
