  • The beds, sold at Walmart and Wayfair, ‘collapsed’
  • 36 injuries were reported in connection with the defective beds

A popular bed frame sold in leading retailers has been recalled after nearly 40 people suffered injuries from the furniture.

Between July 2018 and November 2023, nearly half a million of the problematic bed frames were sold at stores like Walmart and Wayfair.

The recall was announced on January 18 after 128 reported bed collapse claims and 36 reported injuries.

“The recalled beds may break, sag or collapse during use, posing fall and injury risks to consumers,” the recall states.

“Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled beds and contact Home Design for free replacement bed frames and bed rails,” the recall urged.

To prove ownership of the bed and claim a free repair, customers must send an image of the bed and the legal label or proof of purchase to the manufacturer, Home Design.

This isn’t the first time Wayfair has faced controversy over the quality of their products.

A 2019 class action lawsuit alleged that Wayfair sold mattresses infested with bed bugs for at least two years.

The lawsuit alleged that despite being aware of the problems with the bedbug infestation, the furniture retailer made no effort to resolve the problem.

“Despite knowing that their beds were infested with bed bugs from the numerous consumer complaints they received,” the lawsuit reads, “Defendants intentionally concealed this fact from Plaintiff.”
