The final moments of an American technology boss who plunged five meters to his death during his company’s anniversary party have been captured on film.

Sanjay Shah, CEO of Illinois-based revenue management company Vistex, fell on stage during a performance after a cable holding up an iron cage in which he was performing broke.

The freak accident took place at Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad, India on Thursday during a silver jubilee celebration of Vistex Asia.

But suddenly the cable breaks and the structure collapses, causing the men to fall to the ground.

Both men were rushed to hospital, where Shah succumbed to his injuries. Datla is still in a serious condition, the Sun reports.

“The lowering of Shah and Raju from the cage onto the stage was a planned event to kick off the celebrations,” a company official said. The times of India.

A case has now been registered against the event management authorities, police added.

Vistex was founded by Shah in 1999 and today has twenty global offices and more than 2,000 employees. It counts brands such as GM, Barilla and Bayer among its customer base.

The staff had been provided accommodation at Ramoji Film City ahead of the two-day 25th anniversary celebrations.

Shah, 56, was originally from Mumbai and moved to the US at the age of 17. He received his MBA degree from Lehigh University in Pennsylvania at the age of 21.

He then donated $5 million in 2017 to establish the Vistex Institute for Executive Education at the school.

Shah was a philanthropist who founded the Vistex Foundation, which provides funding to nonprofits focused on healthcare, education and basic needs. He leaves behind a wife and two daughters.

Datla, the company’s president, has been with Vistex since 2000.
