Tim Scott to endorse Donald Trump ahead of New Hampshire primary
- Senator Tim Scott will fly to Palm Beach before traveling to New Hampshire on Friday
- The Trump, Haley and DeSantis campaigns had all tried to woo the senator
- A source said Scott had decided it was time to shift the focus to fighting Biden
Senator Tim Scott will endorse Donald Trump at a rally in New Hampshire on Friday evening, tightening the former president’s grip on the 2024 Republican nomination.
After Monday’s landslide victory in Iowa, the Trump campaign plans to eliminate his remaining opponents as quickly as possible and turn its attention to a presidential contest with President Joe Biden.
Now Trump has won the battle to secure the support of Scott, who dropped out of the race in November.
The campaigns of Nikki Haley and Ron DeSantis had both tried to court the South Carolina senator.
A source familiar with the details confirmed Scott’s approval.

“He will fly to Palm Beach and then go to New Hampshire with the former president, after which he will appear with the former president tonight to show his support,” the source said.
“The deciding factor was that he has been talking to Trump for a while and they have a very good relationship.
“We need to focus on beating Joe Biden.”
The approval was first reported by the New York Times.
The decision will fuel speculation that Trump could choose Scott as his running mate. The senator has a powerful fundraising machine and could help the former ascendant make further inroads among Biden’s black support.
