Portland, Victoria: Man charged with murder after dead body found in a house
A man has been charged following the discovery of a body at a home in south-west Victoria.
A man’s body was found in a home on Park Street in Portland around 7:30 p.m. Thursday, prompting police to arrive on the scene.
A 45-year-old man was arrested in the same house and charged with one count of murder.

He has been remanded in custody and will appear in the Warrnambool Magistrates’ Court on January 22.
The man whose remains were found has yet to be identified, but police believe the two knew each other.
A popular travel destination for Victorians, Portland is known for its pristine beaches and history, with the city becoming the state’s first permanent European settlement in 1834.
