Ebanie Bridges has launched a staunch defense of ring girls amid questions about their role in martial arts, against detractors: “Don’t call me out on me.”
UFC legend Khabib Nurmagomedov sparked controversy last year when he labeled ring girls as “the most useless people in martial arts,” sparking backlash from the likes of Conor McGregor and Arianny Celeste.
He said, ‘What is their function? I think they are the most useless people in martial arts. Which function? How? What are they up to? Please tell me.’

Still, IBF world bantamweight champion Bridges, a former ring girl before her meteoric rise in boxing, has told the Dagestani in no uncertain terms to remove herself from the debate.
“Why are people who are not us trying to take our jobs?” she told football legends Alan Brazil and Ray Parlor on drink talk.
“We love it, I loved being a ring girl. I don’t think it’s useless. I loved being part of the entertainment, getting paid to watch those fights.

‘You have people who say it’s sexist, that it objectifies…. maybe I want to be objectified. Maybe I want to make money… don’t make a decision for me. You can’t box without the ring girls.’
About her own experience as a ring girl, Bridges added: “I love martial arts, I grew up with it, so for me to be in the fights… I loved it. I was paid crazy money, probably more than some of the fighters, to sit on the ringside.
“I’d walk around in a thong—they don’t do the thongs these days, but in my heyday, that’s how we used to do it.”
The Blonde Bomber has built a cult following since she moved to the UK as a Matchroom Boxing athlete, keeping an eye out for her skimpy attire when weighing in.
She also claimed ring girls are an integral part of boxing in a solid defense on a podcast
Bridges also lifted the lid on the quirky requests she often receives from her supporters
As a result, Bridges is often inundated with bizarre requests from fans, admitting that things can get “heavy” at times.
“I get love letters, everything,” she said. “I’m being asked for bath water, toenail clippings, sweat.”
She is also adept at beating online trolls on social media, believing that abuse against her stems from “jealousy.”
“I’m ignoring it,” she added. “Anyone who is successful will get the jealousy, the hatred, people will try to drag you down. That’s just normal.
“The people who talk shit – they don’t know me, so why sit there and get emotional and harassed by someone who’s never met me. I am very sure of myself.
“I’ve been through hell and back in my life and I’m very sure I love who I am.”
