‘Structured’ water that costs $26 is the latest wellness craze said to aid weight loss – but does it work?

  • Structured water refers to water molecules that form a hexagonal cluster
  • Fans claim that the drink can improve digestion, hydration and energy levels

Just when you thought the world of wellness couldn’t get any more ridiculous, health gurus advocate using expensive water with designer ‘molecules’.

So-called “structured” water – available at trendy LA supermarket Erewhon for $26 – is H20 that has supposedly been modified so that its molecular structure is a hexagonal shape.

Fans say this allows the water to ‘retain more energy’, ‘recharging’ the body and keeping it better hydrated compared to plain water.

Other supposed benefits include improved digestion, immunity energy, reduced inflammation and even weight loss.

It was the discovery of Dr. Gerard Pollack, professor of bioengineering at the University of Washington, who believes this can be achieved by exposing water to infrared light.

Improve your hydration with structured water Dr. Janine offers valuable insights on improving your hydration through structured water. Referring to the research of Dr. Emoto emphasizes how nurturing positive thoughts and emotions can have a transformative effect on the crystal structure of water molecules. Furthermore, she sheds light on the groundbreaking discoveries of Dr. Pollock regarding EZ-water or the fourth phase of water which plays a crucial role in the functioning and communication of cells. To help you structure your water effectively, Dr. Janine offers some helpful tips, such as swirling the glass while filling, exposing the water to direct sunlight, and placing it near crystals to ensure optimal hydration benefits. #hydration #structuredwater #water #wellnesstips

Supporters of structured water say this type of water occurs “naturally” in mountain springs, melting glaciers and other pristine sources.

On TikTok, fans are demonstrating how to transform plain water into “textured” species, with clips racking up millions and millions of views.

Some users try to do this by simply swirling it with a straw or blender, while others invest in special equipment such as infrared light and a free-standing ‘water vortex’ that would restructure the molecules.

Kourtney’s Poosh website recommends a $160 water pitcher from the Mayu brand to help texturize your water

One popular ‘vortex’ is sold by the Mayu brand, costs $160, and is endorsed by the Poosh – the wellness and lifestyle website run by Kourtney Kardashian.

The carafe generates a vortex that would restructure the water molecules during the vortex process.

A naturopathic doctor who has just under a million TikTok followers – Janine Bowring – claims there are simple things that can help structure your water.

“As it flows into my glass, I like to swirl it to create a vortex that helps structure the water,” she said.

Placing the water in direct sunlight will also help structure the water, she claimed, just like crystals.

According to a recent Poosh article on the trend, structured water is water in “its natural source state.”

The report adds that the molecules are “beautifully shaped hexagonal configurations that look like perfect little snowflakes.”

‘Water molecules that are not perfect crystalline formations are known as unstructured or chaotic water.’ That is, just water from the tap, for you and me.
