Want to reduce your stress levels before heading to the airport?

Well, take a flight down and get a top tip from an experienced flight attendant who wants to help lighten the load for others.

Cici, 51, from Florida, who uses the social media handle @cici.inthesky and does not reveal her last name, reveals in a TikTok video of how she always checks the National Airspace System Status website the night before she flies in case of possible delays.

She says if the website or app says delays are ‘possible’ then they are less likely, but if the website or app says they are ‘likely’ then they are very likely.

The flight professional adds: ‘(It) also shows me if there are any current delays so I can better predict what could potentially happen to my trip.’

After checking the National Airspace System Status website, Cici next looks at the FlightAware app.

By using her flight number, she can see that her plane is coming and “just make sure everything goes as it should.”

She says that if she sees that there will be a “likely problem,” either through the National Airspace System or FlightAware, “I might adjust what time I leave.”

By doing these checks, she says she is also better mentally prepared for any problems that may arise.

She concludes: ‘Always pack your patience. Being at the front and in the know is… psychologically a big step.’

In the accompanying video caption, Cici explains that the National Airspace System Status website (nasstatus.faa.gov) “serves as an essential travel companion, providing real-time updates on air traffic conditions, airport delays and weather-related disruptions.”

“Whether you’re a frequent flyer or an occasional traveler, this website is your go-to place to stay informed and avoid travel hassles.”

Many viewers have thanked Cici for sharing her insights.

One commenter wrote: ‘Thanks for this. I didn’t know the NASS site yet! I just added it to my favorites!!”

Another frequent flyer agreed with Cici’s recommendations, writing, “I fly weekly for work and FlightAware is my BFF.

“I tell friends, family and even strangers about it and they are all excited to use it!”
