The end of Che Diaz? Non-binary star Sara Ramirez hints they have been AXED from And Just Like That due to staunch pro-Palestine stance – then slams the controversial character as ‘performative’

And Just Like That star Sara Ramirez has hinted that they were dropped from the Sex and the City spin-off due to their pro-Palestinian stance, then slammed their “performative” nature.

Ramirez, 48, a non-binary actor who plays Che Diaz and who uses these pronouns, shared a series of posts on Instagram on Tuesday suggesting they will not return for the third season.

“Our industry is so duplicitous,” the former Grey’s Anatomy star wrote the night after the Emmy Awards.

“While giving away prizes, casting directors and agents create blacklists of actors and workers who post in support of the Palestinians in Gaza to ensure they will not work again.

“While they round up some of their own clients who have spoken out against this genocide, they fire and let others go with smaller platforms.

“While they reward ‘LGBTQ organizations,’ they are silent about those organizations’ ties to weapons manufacturers who are currently supporting the Israeli military as it commits genocide on Palestinian lives, including LGBTQIA2S+ lives.”

Ramirez mocked people who need awards, ridiculing them as something “shiny” that makes people “feel special and powerful.”

But the artist said it was a dark time to celebrate as thousands of people died in Gaza. Ramirez previously took to the streets of Brooklyn and waved a transgender flag during a Palestinian protest.

“It’s amazing how performative so many in Hollywood are,” she said. ‘Even more performing than the last character I played.’ IMDb listed Che as Ramirez’s most recent role.

Ramirez’s use of the past tense suggested that her time in the role was over. DailyMail.com has contacted Ramirez for comment. A spokeswoman for And Just Like That executive producer Michael Patrick King declined to comment when contacted by DailyMail.com.

Ramirez plays Che Diaz, a comedian whose introduction and love affair with Sex and the City icon Miranda Hobbes divided fans.

Some fans were angry that Che broke up Miranda and Steve Brady’s marriage, while others complained that Che’s jokes were off.

Her mockery of her character echoes a line she said on the show.

In the second season, Che Diaz gets a pilot for a Netflix comedy show, which flopped.

But Diaz struggles with how Netflix producers want them to appear, saying they have been reduced to “just a fake, sanitized, performative, cheap, crazy version of what the non-binary experience is.”

Ramirez also thanked those who have stood by her in a separate post on Tuesday, suggesting she has been through a difficult time.

“I am so grateful for the people in my life who have helped and continue to support me in my healing and release,” she wrote.

“Thank you for helping me peel back the layers of conditioning, socialization, and trauma.

“Thank you for helping me take responsibility for my own humanity as I continue to lean into the discomfort of growth and change.

“Thank you for not exploiting me and rejecting me.

“Thank you for calling me and holding me close as I forge a path of empowerment and authenticity.

“Thank you for reminding me that my gentleness is one of my many superpowers.

“This is about being human and showing up with courage and curiosity no matter how bumpy the road gets.”

The series was officially renewed for a third season in August.

“We’re excited to spend more time in the Sex and the City universe and tell new stories about the lives of these relatable and ambitious characters, played by these incredible actors,” executive producer and showrunner Michael Patrick King said at the time .

“And just like that… here comes season 3.”

But production was delayed by the Hollywood writers’ strike, which began in May.

In November the strike ended and writers resumed their work.

Filming hasn’t started yet and Max, who broadcasts the show, has confirmed it won’t hit our screens until 2025.
