Dr Ash Gordon death: Major twist in brave doctor’s stabbing investigation after Doncaster, Melbourne home invasion

Detectives investigating the death of a Melbourne doctor after a home invasion have swarmed a house where a party was held hours earlier.

Daily Mail Australia witnessed at least five police officers searching the home in Doncaster, in the city’s eastern suburbs, on Tuesday morning.

Dr. Gordon, 33, was fatally stabbed as he chased a group of intruders who broke into his Sargent Street home on Saturday.

He was fatally stabbed after following the thugs in his car and getting out to confront them.

Neighbors told Daily Mail Australia the property now under investigation by police was the site of a raucous party in the hours before Dr. Gordon was attacked.

The development comes after neighbors reported a spate of crimes in the street in recent weeks, including a burglary in November and theft of a car last week.

During Tuesday’s raids, a young man was seen in the passenger seat of an unmarked car, next to two female officers.

The officers escorted the man without handcuffs, dressed in a long shirt, shorts and boots, to the two-storey building.

Detectives could be seen searching the upstairs floor and carrying out cardboard evidence bags and boxes of documents.

Detectives, wearing gloves and face masks, later paid special attention to a garage next to the house.

Inside, a mattress stood against the wall next to a refrigerator, with a blue cool box on top. Some officers focused on an area next to some bins with yellow lids.

After several hours, officers emerged from the building with cardboard evidence bags.

No charges have been filed. An officer told Daily Mail Australia not to expect an arrest, and there is no suggestion the home’s occupants played a role in the doctor’s death.

A Victoria Police spokesperson confirmed to Daily Mail Australia that police were at the Doncaster property for a “current operation”.

“There is no immediate risk to public safety and further information will be provided as soon as it is operationally appropriate,” the spokesperson said.

Dr. Gordon was sleeping in his two-storey townhouse when a gang of thugs broke in around 5am on Saturday.

His devastated flatmate and best friend Tristen Standing said Dr Gordon was a ‘protector’ and immediately took action. Mr Standing stayed home and called 000.

Dr. Gordon chased the intruders out of the house and chased them in his car before they fatally stabbed him during a confrontation about 500 meters away in nearby Elidon St.

Frightened neighbors called the police after hearing the commotion and discovering the body of Dr. Gordon was discovered a short time later.

His attackers are still on the run and no arrests have been made.

Dr.’s girlfriend Gordon told police his attackers stole a few items from the home, including laptops and shoes.

The handcuffed man was led into the home under surveillance by two female officers who held him on the downstairs floor while investigators searched the upstairs.

Dr. Gordon, from the regional mining town of Morwell, studied medicine at university and graduated with honours.

He later opened his cosmetic clinic Redefine Aesthetics, based in Richmond, which specializes in skin health, wellness and anti-aging.

Sister Natalie Gordon told reporters the family is struggling to come to terms with her brother’s death.

She described her younger sibling as a very “patient and loving” person who “poured his heart and soul into his work as a doctor.”

“He was my best, best, little big brother. He was such a cheeky, light-hearted and fun person,” Natalie said.

‘He gave everything to everyone – in his family and in his work – and put everyone before himself.

“He just wanted to provide the best doctor care he could provide because he felt you needed the best point of contact for your first doctor – and he was that.”

Officers were seen paying particular attention to a garage next to the house, transporting brown evidence bags from the room to a waiting vehicle.

The family and friends of Dr. Gordon gathered in his two-story unit on Monday to begin the arduous process of packing up his belongings.

The group was seen carrying boxes and bundles of clothing from the home and stacking them in the back of a closet.

Wiping away tears, Natalie said the family was working to “bring Ash home” by taking his belongings to Gippsland. As the family comes to terms with the tragedy, they have urged anyone with information about the incident to contact police.

Natalie had a sterner message for her brother’s killers.

“Give yourself in,” she said.

‘It is an absolute shame for humanity to do something so wonderful to someone.

“The world is a worse place now because he was taken not just from us, but from the wider community.”
