Baldur’s Gate 3’s latest hotfix makes Gale less dramatic if you don’t give him magical items
Larian Studios has released another hotfix for Baldur’s Gate 3this time around, a series of persistent bugs and performance issues were addressed, as well as a specific annoyance that made it difficult for a certain party member to deal with.
If you’ve played the turn-based role-playing game, you know that your camp’s wizard of Waterdeep, Gale, has been struck by a force called the Netherese orb, which has damaged his body. To keep the orb at bay and prevent it from fully inhabiting his body, he must consume magical items that he later requests from the player after you meet him.
It’s up to you whether you want to give him the precious antiquities you collect during your journey, and Gale will be very grateful if you do. However, there seems to be an issue that would cause Gale to leave your party for good if you don’t offer him up in future conversations.
With Hotfix 17, Larian Studios has made it so that Gale no longer permanently leaves the party if you don’t offer him magical items while talking to him – “unless you’re very clear that you have no intention of ever doing so.” So.”
“Poor Gale – we know your pain, sometimes it’s easy to read something into a situation that wasn’t there,” Larian said in the patch notes. ‘We sat him down and explained that if someone doesn’t offer him a shoe to eat every time, that doesn’t mean he never will. There’s a better chance he’ll stick around now.’
In addition to this major change, players will now notice that in Honor Mode, the aura of Cazador’s Potent Mist Form will now properly disappear after he is no longer in Mist Form, a bug for which Larian apologized. Additionally, characters are no longer allowed to get stuck “in a story event”, causing them to become uncontrollable after dying in the battle with Grym.
The studio has also reduced the size of save files by “removing summons that no longer appear in the game” and also increased the compression of save games, which should solve problems caused by large save files.
