Cowboys QB Dak Prescott insists ‘amazing’ head coach Mike McCarthy should NOT be fired as pressure mounts after another playoff loss: ‘I don’t know how there can be questions’
Dak Prescott jumped to Mike McCarthy’s defense as questions arose about the future of the Cowboys’ head coach — and his quarterback — after another playoff loss.
Dallas was defeated 48-32 on Sunday at AT&T Stadium – the Cowboys’ third loss in four postseason games under McCarthy.
Owner Jerry Jones called it “the most painful” playoff loss of his 35-year tenure because of the “great anticipation” and “hope” surrounding this team.
The result led to uncertainty about the futures of both McCarthy and Prescott. After the game, the quarterback backed his head coach and took the blame for Sunday’s loss, admitting he “sucked.”
‘He was great. I don’t know how there can be questions about his status, but I understand things,” Prescott said.

‘In that case it has to be about me too, to be honest. I mean, that guy, I had the season I had because of him. This team has had the success they have had because of him.
“I understand it’s about winning the Super Bowl, and that’s the standard of the league and damn sure the standard of this place. I understand. But then add me to the list.’
Prescott gave a brutally honest assessment of his own performance after a night in which he was outshone by the brilliant Jordan Love.
“I didn’t sleep well tonight,” Prescott said. ‘That was it. I started working on it a little later, but at that point it didn’t matter anymore. I fought. That’s all I really know how to do.
‘But it’s about winning. It’s about winning the play-offs and then getting to the last game and winning it. It is heavy.’
