Horrifying moment 53-year-old NYC pedestrian is mowed down and killed by two SUVs in sickening hit and run

Disturbing surveillance footage shows the moment two vehicles fatally struck a woman during a collision in New York.

Lourdes Camilo, 53, was waiting to cross the intersection of Melrose Avenue and 157th Street in the Bronx when she was struck by the first vehicle, a white Jeep, around 7:10 p.m., the NYPD said.

She was then pushed into the air and put into a second Jeep, which was traveling at considerable speed in the opposite direction, the video shows.

The woman, said to be a mother of four, is then seen lying lifeless on the street. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The first car, meanwhile, took off after the moment of impact, leaving Camilo dead in the street. The second, driven by a 53-year-old man, remained behind, while police revealed that Camilo had been just steps away from her home when she was hit.

The search for the driver of the white Grand Cherokee continues on Sunday evening, police confirmed.

The victim’s mother, one of several family members who arrived on the scene before Camilo could be taken away, expressed her and her family’s grief. The daily news.

“The whole family felt a lot for her,” the senior told the newspaper, in an interview translated from Spanish. “She called everyone her friend.”

The woman asked not to be named, adding: ‘She was very special, always with a smile even when she had a problem.’

Luis Morales, Camilo’s 80-year-old neighbor, painted a similar picture, describing how the late Starbucks manager was always loud when he saw her around the building.

“She was a very nice girl,” Morales said, as several people, believed to be the victim’s family, were left inconsolable on the street.

‘Every time I saw her he would say, ‘Good morning, sir. How are you? Have a nice day,” he recalled. ‘Good sense of humor. Very lively. Very polite.’

He added that he was stunned when he heard how she died, saying she was always “very careful” when crossing the street

“I can’t believe it,” he told the publication.

He also described the moment Camilo’s family learned of the fatal incident, revealing that he could hear their fear from the neighbors.

‘I heard the crying. He was banging on the walls and yelling,” he said, revealing that Camilo had four children and worked as a manager at Starbucks in Manhattan.

The driver of the second vehicle, meanwhile, was photographed by the News but, as of Sunday, has not been charged.

He cooperated with police on Saturday evening during a hectic scene where many, believed to be Camilo’s family, were stopped by police as the victim lay covered in the street.

The area was then cordoned off as many were overcome with grief.

While the general search for the Grand Cherokee continues, police cannot yet say whether they have been able to pull a license plate number.

So far, no arrests have been made and officers’ investigation is ongoing.

As is the case with all hit and run cases, a suspect is prosecuted if arrested.
