The Buffalo Bills shared video of Highmark Stadium covered in snow and buffeted by lake winds on Saturday evening.

The white conditions made it impossible to see anything in vivid detail, with the exception of a few vehicles and the uprights.

It provides more evidence as to why the AFC Wild Card game against the Pittsburgh Steelers was postponed to Monday after initially being scheduled for Sunday.

Several feet of snow is expected to fall in the greater Buffalo area over the next few hours.

Buffalo is forecast to get snow all week, with the only real break in precipitation coming on Monday afternoon – right around the time the game is scheduled to be played.

New York Governor Kathy Hochul had declared a state of emergency, tweeting: “I was in contact with @NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell this weekend regarding the dangerous conditions in Buffalo.

“In consultation with our emergency response teams, Buffalo Bills leadership and the NFL, the Bills game will be postponed until Monday at 4:30 p.m.”

The NFL had insisted through Saturday that the game would go on as scheduled on Sunday afternoon.

In fact, about 25 minutes before Hochul made her announcement, the Bills tweeted that the game would go ahead on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m.

While it was the only game postponed due to the cold weather, the Bills and Steelers game wasn’t the only playoff game to feel the effects of winter this weekend.

The Kansas City Chiefs saw tickets for their game against the Miami Dolphins drop to just $32 due to dangerously high temperatures, but that didn’t stop fans from lining up at 9 a.m. to start tailgating.
