“I know it’s a stupid name. You can blame Steve Carell for that, he mentioned her,” DeGeneres joked, referring to The Office star Carell, who is also a close friend.

But while Sinkie’s leg successfully healed, the bird was bullied by DeGeneres’ other rescue chickens, hence her move.

DeGeneres captioned a photo of Sinkie enjoying a meal of fresh lettuce: “Sinkie’s leg was repaired but our chickens were still picking at her so she had to be rehomed.

‘Luckily our friends Harry and Meghan’s chicken coop still had room for one. I don’t know yet what her royal title will be.’

The photo appeared to have been taken outside the Sussex’s large wooden chicken coop.

Fans immediately came up with suggestions for Sinkie’s new royal name.

‘HRH Sinkie’ offered one, while another suggested: ‘Lady Sinkington would be such a cute royal title for Sinkie!’

Another gushed: ‘Sinkie is lucky. Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet will spoil her.’

During her infamous interview with Oprah Winfrey – when she accused members of the royal family of being racist for wondering what skin color Archie might have – Meghan revealed ‘I just love rescuing’ while giving Winfrey a tour of her chicken coop that ‘ Archie’s’ is called. Chick Inn.’

The chickens were rescued from a California factory farm.

Meghan told Oprah that the loft was part of her plan to “live authentically” and “get back to basics.”
