Ricky Hatton has raised questions about how much Tyson Fury ‘has left’ in boxing after his trilogy series with Deontay Wilder.

After signing his first fight with Wilder in 2018 following his return to boxing, Fury managed to get the upper hand over The Bronze Bomber in 2020 and 2021.

The grueling series clearly had a significant physical impact on Fury, with Hatton suggesting it will be difficult for The Gypsy King to continue fighting for long periods of time.

Since his most recent win over Wilder, Fury has overcome Derek Chisora and Francis Ngannou, surviving a scare to overcome the latter.

However, Hatton is unsure about Fury’s future in boxing.

Hatton said OLGB: ‘You won’t get a bigger fight. It is one of the biggest fights in British boxing history. It’s a great clash of styles.

“Tyson is always putting in entertaining fights, just like AJ, and only a few fights ago we thought his best days were behind him, but in his last few fights he has looked really impressive.

“But Tyson, on the other hand, has been the best heavyweight for quite a few years and I still have him as number one, but we just need to know what Tyson has left.”

Hatton insisted Fury ‘didn’t look in the best shape’ in his recent fights.

He continued: ‘Don’t forget it’s not just about the three Wilder fights, it’s also about the lifestyle he’s had, having to lose ten stone in the past and what that does to the body, and then three wars with Deontay Wilder.

“It might be too many miles on the clock for Tyson, or maybe he took it lightly because he didn’t look in the best shape.”

Fury is currently fully focused on his highly anticipated clash with Oleksandr Usyk on February 17 in Saudi Arabia.

However, two-time welterweight champion Shawn Porter has claimed that Fury could pull out of the fight.

Speaking to ProBox TV, Porter said: “You look at a guy like Tyson Fury, a guy who has been on this circuit so many times.

“I think a fighter gets to a point where he sees the toughest night in front of him and thinks, ‘Man, I’ve just had so many of those tough nights, I’m not going to have that tough night again.’

“What we know about Tyson Fury is that he’s a showman, what we know about Tyson Fury is that he likes things to go his way or not.

“That’s why he went after Francis Ngannou, because that’s the kind of fights he’s looking for.

“He’s looking for things that will get him the money and the recognition and the nights he doesn’t have to train hard for anymore.”
