In his pursuit of a record-tying 61st home run, Aaron Judge was thwarted by difficult pitches and difficult calls.
One of the hardest may have come Saturday afternoon in his game against the Red Sox.
First base umpire, Chris Conroy, saw Judge check his swing on a pitch from John Schreiber that went high and out. He called Judge on a third strike.
Judge responded by pointing his arm in the direction of Conroy, saying something in his direction, then angrily waving back at him.

The strikeout call was Judge’s second of the day in a 0-3 attempt, still trailing 61 . sitting
It was Judge’s second strikeout in a 0-3 day in which he failed to hit a homerun for the fourth time in a row.
Since he home run No. 60 in a game against the Pirates, he has gone 3 for 13 with a pair of doubles, five walks and six strikeouts.
Due to the lack of production, his batting average has dropped to .314, while Xander Bogaerts of Boston has climbed to .315 to take the lead in the American League.
Combine Judge’s home run count with his industry-leading RBI count of 128, and he is on the hunt for the first Triple Crown in baseball since Miguel Cabrera accomplished the feat with the Detroit Tigers in 2012.
The Yankees won the game 7-5 thanks to Anthony Rizzo’s two-run homerun right after Judge struckout.
Judge has another shot at tying the record against Boston. He will take on Brayan Bello as the Yankees try to win in the Bronx.
