Moms for Liberty school board member Keri Blair resigns after being arrested for stealing $728 worth of goods from Tennessee Target

A Tennessee school board member supported by Moms for Liberty resigned last week after she was arrested for stealing hundreds of dollars worth of merchandise from Target.

Keri Blair, 43, was charged with theft of property under $1,000 and booked into jail by Collierville police last Friday.

She has been charged with shoplifting $728.61 worth of merchandise from the city’s Target over a 26-day period between Nov. 25 and Dec. 20.

Local reports saying the major retail chain is ‘persecuting’.

She allegedly stole the goods by “skipping scanning items at the self-checkout,” meaning she would slide an item across the scanner without beeping, according to her affidavit.

Keri Blair was arrested last week for shoplifting more than $700 worth of merchandise from Target over the course of a month. She has since resigned from her position on the school board, which she won in 2022 with the support of Moms for Liberty

Records show she arrived in the same car – a gray Infiniti SUV – and used the same bank card in her name each time she stole from the retail giant. Authorities say Target has video footage of Blair allegedly stealing the items.

Reports say the value of the stolen goods on each occasion ranges from $63.38 to $140.49.

The theft investigation into Blair began on December 27, a week after her last alleged theft at Target.

On Wednesday, Collierville Schools announced that Blair had resigned from her position due to “personal, family reasons.”

School board Chairman Wright Cox received Blair’s resignation Tuesday.

The district promptly released a statement thanking Blair for her work on the board.

“Chairman Cox would like to express his gratitude for Ms. Blair’s service to the community and her commitment to public education in Collierville,” the statement said.

Blair was first elected to her seat on the school board 13 months ago, with the support of Moms for Liberty, a national nonprofit founded in 2021 that advocates for parental rights at all levels of government, often starting at the local level school board.

Until the next municipal election on November 5, 2024, a board member appointed by the Collierville Board of Mayor and Alderman will serve in Blair’s place.

To crack down on repeat shoplifting offenders, Target is reportedly implementing a system in which store authorities allow thefts to occur unchallenged for weeks and sometimes months.

Rather than pressing charges, the thieves will be documented until the dollar amount they took meets local thresholds for substantial criminal charges.

The Tennessee mother is facing seven charges of theft of property and is currently free on $7,500 bond.

The Moms for Liberty brand has hit some major problems lately, not least the recent forced resignation of the organization’s co-founder Bridget Ziegler, whose husband, the chairman of the Republican Party, has been accused of rape.

The accusation came from a woman who claims she previously had at least one sexual encounter with the conservative Florida couple.

Zielger has served on the Sarasota County School Board since 2014 and previously served as its chair, a position to which she was appointed by then-Governor Rick Scott.

The Florida Republican Party recently fired Christian Ziegler, Bridget’s wife, as chairman.

Ziegler refused to resign from his position despite the enormous wave of negative media attention it attracted during an election year. He has not been charged with any crime, but is under investigation for sexual assault.

Bridget Ziegler, unlike Blair, has refused to resign from her position on the school board following a personal scandal.
