Bill Belichick’s voice breaks as he says goodbye to New England at emotional press conference after 24 years in charge: ‘I’ll always be a Patriot… but for now, I’m going to move on’
Bill Belichick parted ways with the New England Patriots during a brief farewell press conference on Thursday, but strongly hinted he will remain in the NFL.
‘I will always be a patriot. I’m looking forward to coming back here,” Belichick said. “But right now we’re moving on. I am excited about the future.
‘There are so many wonderful memories and thoughts. “I will always be a patriot, and I will always appreciate the opportunity and support here.”
Owner Robert Kraft said, “Coach Belichick will forever be celebrated as an icon here in New England. He is the best coach of all time.
“I will always be a sentimental sports fan in my heart. So this is an emotional day for me. Some of my happiest and most memorable moments were spent with my family during Bill’s time here.”
