How Emily Blunt and John Krasinski’s marriage and 16-year relationship has become one of the most enduring in Hollywood

Emily Blunt and John Krasinski’s marriage is under scrutiny after they dropped a divorce bombshell on the Golden Globes red carpet.

Researchers on social media have posted wild theories under a now viral TikTok video, shared by CBS, asks whether John made an innocent comment about the weather or if the actor was joking about marital problems.

One TikTok user commented, “Did he say I can’t wait to get a divorce? And she said hey and he said I meant it.”

The shock surrounding the ten-second clip, which has already been viewed more than two million times, is testament to the admiration for the duo, who have so far avoided the usual Hollywood pitfalls.

A ‘romantic comedy’ encounter

The couple have been together since 2008, with Emily noting that she “knew straight away” she had a connection with John.

John was with boyfriend Justin Theroux, but Emily remembers how he ‘abandoned Justin and came to us. He just stood there and made me laugh. I actually knew it straight away.’

For his part, John has admitted to “full stalker status” after admiring Emily from a distance thanks to her film-stealing work in 2006’s The Devil Wears Prada, admitting that he later told his wife that he watched the film “75 times” ‘ had seen.

Putting family first

They have continued their parallel success stories alongside working together on A Quiet Place 2, but have also defended each other’s decisions to take a break and focus on family.

Despite appearing in numerous projects in 2023, Emily recently revealed that she made the decision to step away from the camera this year and focus on motherhood.
