Marvel's Echo, True Detective: Night Country and more new TV this week
2024 is running at full speed, and 2024 TV is following suit. This week some big names will grace our television screens, and some real players will be waiting Good TV to really make our new year rock and roll.
Like Jodie Foster who, together with Kali Reis, brings back the best parts and promises Real detective season 1. Night countrythe fourth Real detective season, is written by Issa López, and will be set throughout the month (or so) of nighttime in frigid northern Alaska. Hell yes!
Alaqua Cox also finally gets his chance to star as Echo in Marvel's Echo, the grittiest MCU show yet. Perhaps best of all, Marvel is putting this under its new Spotlight Series, meaning no prior MCU knowledge is required.

Trust: a game of greed

Form: Eleven people who will “test human nature”
If you were offered a quarter of a million dollars, would you try to take an equal share? The trust is here to find out, giving 11 strangers the chance to try and keep more for themselves. Netflix bills this as “the ultimate test of human nature,” but let's call it what it really is: a fun idea for a reality show to see just how greedy these eleven people will turn out to be.

Echo (Alaqua Cox) came in first Hawkeyewhere she learned the unfortunate truth about her surrogate father, Kingpin (Vincent D'Onofrio). Echo will pick up her life again after the end of her life Hawkeyewhere she tried to take over Kingpin's empire and became the superhero we know her as.

True Detective: Nightland
Genre: Creepy murder mystery

Just when you thought you were out, the spiral pulls you back in. The new Real detective harkens back to the first in mood: two terse and dedicated detectives solving a mysterious murder, with Lovecraftian horror and some creepy shit leading their path. A spoiler-free review: We have our first really great show of the year.

Mr. Spade
Genre: Murder mystery

Sam Spade (Clive Owen) is back and he looks completely different than we know him. The character first appeared in Dashiell Hammett's novel The Maltese falcon, before appearing in other stories, including the film adaptation of the same name starring Humphrey Bogart as Spade. Now it's Clive Owen's turn, and the new AMC Plus show puts him back in his noir-happy place, only now with a little more modern polish and some Real detective-esque murders to boot.

To remind Ted? Seth MacFarlane as a lewd, talking teddy bear? Well, he's back, with a prequel show spanning the years for the Ted movies. Set in the '90s, the Peacock show will focus on how much of a 16-year-old you are, even if you have a magical teddy bear who likes drugs and swears.

Criminal record

Two detectives, brought together by chance, are tasked with solving an impossible case. It's a proven formula, and Criminal record is no exception. This time, however, it produces some strong players: Cush Jumbo as the young detective at the start of her career, and Doctor who's Peter Capaldi as the seasoned veteran determined to protect his reputation.
Monarch: Legacy of Monsters Finale
