My ex died during the lockdown and I wrote about that experience. I wrote about what a terrible experience that was for me and the people who loved him,” she said.

“He was a musician and I’ve struggled to listen to his music ever since.”

Myf says she has asked Noga’s family for permission to talk about his life and death.

“I have consulted with his family. I wanted to make sure they were comfortable with it, so there’s some pretty heavy stuff in it, but I also wanted to be honest about myself and who I am,” she said.

“Life is hard and there have been times when it was pretty hard, and I think for the first time I feel comfortable showing that to people.”

After his death, Mike’s sister Ali called for greater mental health awareness in the Australian music industry, revealing that her brother’s death was caused in part by his dependence on alcohol.

After his death, Mike’s sister Ali called for greater mental health awareness in the Australian music industry, revealing that her brother’s death was caused in part by his dependence on alcohol as a result of a struggle with anxiety and depression.

“Mike struggled throughout his life with anxiety and depression, which became especially difficult in the last three years of his life, during which time he was often dependent on alcohol for self-medication,” Ali said in a statement.

“Being constantly on the road made it difficult for Mike to get professional help for his anxiety and depression and often it was all too easy to self-medicate with alcohol to board a flight, get a gig or to deal with stress in general.’

She continued: ‘As music lovers, we must remember that many of us turn to art to nurture our own mental well-being and we must be aware that the people who create for us sometimes suffer themselves.

“Our deepest wish for those in the industry and those who love music is that you please be kind and supportive of each other.”
