Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Nelson Agholor got the meme treatment Saturday night after falling an agonizing 19 yards short of a target that would have earned him a $250,000 bonus at the end of the season.
Entering Saturday night's regular season finale against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Agholor needed 58 receiving yards to reach his previously set goal of 400 for the season.
The Ravens lost the game and Agholor only gained 39 yards in the game, meaning he finished the season just 19 yards shy of sealing himself a quarter of a million dollars.
Fans were soon all over social media poking fun at the 30-year-old, who earns a base salary of $3.25 million before bonuses.
One wrote 'better luck next season mate', while another posted a meme of a child who can't catch a ball.
Nelson Agholor went into Saturday night's match with one main goal, but he fell just short
Agholor finished the game – and the season – 19 yards short of his 400-yard goal
Fans took to social media to give Agholor the meme treatment after the Ravens' loss
Elsewhere, someone added: 'There's no way you could stop me from getting those 19 yards!! If it could have been done for a quarter of a million, I would have driven through people naked…'
There was one fan on Agholor's side, urging the Ravens to cough up the money even if the wide receiver fell short of the goal.
Saturday night, Agholor could also have earned himself a $500,000 bonus if he made 10 catches, bringing him to 40 for the year.
Some fans joked that he should still try to get the $250,000 windfall from the owners
Fans voiced their opinions on Agholor missing out on the quarter-million dollar bonus
Needless to say, a quarter of the year's catches in one night was a total just beyond the reach of the wideout, who previously played for the Raiders, Patriots and Eagles.
There was more luck for his teammate Jadeveon Clowney, meanwhile, after he sealed the half-bag he needed to earn a huge $750,000 bonus.
He needed nine and a half sacks this season to seal the windfall, and he danced for joy after reaching the milestone in the first half.
