Karl Robinson's spell in charge at Salford City started with a bang after he was sent off just fourteen minutes into his first game.

Appointed by the Class of '92 ownership group, Robinson has been tasked with turning around their League Two season after a dismal start to the season under Neil Wood.

Taking charge of his first match at home to fellow strugglers Forest Green Rovers on Saturday, there were fireworks less than a quarter of the way through the first half when Robinson was banished to the stands.

There was much confusion among the crowd when Robinson was shown a red card, but things were to get worse for Salford when Matt Smith's opener was canceled out by Charlie McCann in the fourth minute before half-time.

“Karl Robinson lasted less than 15 minutes in his first game as Salford boss,” wrote a reporter.

'He gets a straight red card. Why, none of us are so sure.”

Robinson, 43, takes charge of League Two for the first time in his career.

He previously played for Oxford United, MK Dons and Charlton Athletic.

Salford need an immediate response to his appointment after going into Saturday's match without a league win since October 24.
