Tottenham fans cheer on 'incredible' Pedro Porro after his 'insane' wonder goal against Burnley from 25 yards, as the Spanish right-back is compared to a legendary Brazilian defender after FA Cup heroics

Tottenham fans have taken to social media to praise Pedro Porro's stunning opener against Burnley in Friday night's FA Cup match.

As the tie looked headed for a repeat, the Spanish right-back unleashed a flying, swerving effort from about 25 yards that fired into the top left corner to give the hosts the lead.

It proved to be the only goal of the match – with Burnley keeper Arijanet Muric coming close to a surprise equalizer in added time – as Ange Postecoglou's side ensured they were in the hat for the fourth round.

Such a strike would certainly resonate with fans, and Spurs supporters quickly took to social media to praise the special goal.

One fan suggested the player should be considered among the best in the world in his position, even claiming he was a leader in the dressing room.

A fourth fan echoed the sentiment, but also suggested there were a number of players who may not have lived up to the former Sporting defender's example.

Others took the opportunity to debate Porro's virtues compared to the other leading full-backs in the Premier League, with some suggesting that only Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold is his superior.

As a result of the defender's heroics, Tottenham are in the hat for the fourth round of the FA Cup, alongside Fulham, while Everton and Crystal Palace and Wolves and Brentford await the outcome of the play-offs.

It was Porro's first goal of the season after providing seven assists in his 20 appearances in all competitions this season.
