American urges people to try Irish petrol station food as he's amazed by the quality – and admits he 'would never dare eat at a petrol station in the US'

An American man who discovered the joys of the deli at an Irish supermarket chain has declared it 'the best'.

TikToker Connor Kearney now lives in Ireland and recently posted a clip to his 5,500 followers praising the country's food at petrol stations after picking up lunch from a Centra branch.

The 38 second one clampin which Connor tucks into a baguette has been viewed more than 585,000 times.

Viewers were quick to back Connor's beliefs, saying the food at Irish petrol stations is truly superior, but some were shocked by his culinary choices after he ate egg mayo and chicken tikka baguette.

In the clip, Connor confidently proclaimed: 'Ireland has the best food at its petrol stations. I would never dare eat at a gas station in America. Here, chef's kiss'.

The American then proceeded to uncover the brown paper bag his food came in, revealing his food to viewers.

He showed a close-up of his egg salad and chicken tikka sandwich and exclaimed: “Wow, look at that,” before asking the woman in the passenger seat if she wanted a bite.

He then eagerly wolfed down the food and the woman, believed to be his partner, showed viewers her “crispy fries, biscuits and some sausage.”

Connor closed the video urging people to: 'Go to your local Irish petrol station today'.

People responded quickly and the post quickly racked up more than 1,000 comments.

While most praised Connor for his appreciation for the food at Irish gas stations, others fixated on his food choices.

One user claimed: 'No one, and I mean no one does it like the Irish', and another account agreed: 'Ireland has the best gas station'.

One Irish user seemed to recognize the place as a large local supermarket chain: 'Yes, Centra delis are that good'.

And one TikTok user hoped Britain would follow suit, but this didn't stop others from claiming their country was doing better on petrol stations.

“Nah bro, go to Poland and you'll see (good food), especially the hot dogs at the gas station.”

Another said: 'Come to Wales and you will see what good food is like', but some were more fixated on his language and food choices.

One user said: 'It's a garage guy and another pedant wrote: 'It's a petrol station boy', although another account defended Connor: 'Centra doesn't sell petrol though'.

Fans were also concerned about his 'criminal' choice of egg salad and chicken tikka.

Critics even attacked the woman in his car for her use of words: “Calling scones biscuits,” and “This one calls wedges the crispy fries.”
