Dianne Buswell revealed her surprise career change after losing in the Strictly Come Dancing final with Bobby Brazier last month.

The professional dancer, 34, who has starred in eight series of Strictly, opened up about her time on the hit BBC show and admitted she has 'different ambitions'.

Speak with Heat magazine, the Australian star announced that she would like to pursue acting.

She said: 'Next year will be my eighth year on Strictly and I have been so lucky with all my partners. They all bring something different, and you learn a lot from each person.

'But I also have other ambitions. I've always wanted to get into acting, so I'd like to try and explore that.”

Dianne has proven herself to be a woman of many talents after switching from hairdressing to dancing and also designs a range of casual wear, Buswellness, which is sold online.

When she returns to Strictly for the 2024 series, Dianne will be one of the longest serving dancers on the BBC show.

In her first year in 2017, Dianne worked with Pastor Richard Coles.

A year later, she teamed up with social media star Joe Sugg and her life changed forever when the pair fell in love and reached the finals.

The 2023 series was Dianne's second time in the Strictly final. EastEnders actor Bobby and Dianne came in second place, narrowly missing out on the Glitterball Trophy.

It comes after Dianne opened up about her battle with bulimia and over-exercising.

The Strictly dancer's eating disorder became so extreme that she became anemic, fainted and put her at risk of a heart attack.

The 34-year-old star revealed that recovering from bulimia is one of her 'greatest achievements' and explained how she completely changed her way of thinking.

The Australian said: 'Next year will be my eighth year on Strictly and I have been so lucky with all my partners. But I also have other ambitions. “I've always wanted to get into acting, so I'd like to explore that.”

She said: 'It's probably one of my biggest achievements because being healthy is such a big part of your daily life. If you're constantly thinking, “I can't eat today” or “I have to exercise so much today,” it takes over your life.”

Dianne discussed how the pressure from the dance industry to look a certain way really affected her thought process and led her to believe that she had to look a certain way to be cast in something.

Yet she confessed that she realized this wasn't the case while working on cruise ships, when she became so ill she was too weak to move.
